Hard-hat area: The term “heads up” readily applied to the Noyes family of Brea recently.

Bryan Noyes, a starting pitcher for Brea-Olinda’s baseball team, was struck in the back of the head recently by catcher Matt Priess’ throw to second during warm-ups between innings in the Wildcats’ 4-3 victory over Sonora.

Noyes laid motionless on the ground for about 10 minutes but remained in the game and earned the victory.

Three days later, Noyes’ father, Dave, was attacked by a red-tailed hawk on the first hole of the Imperial Golf Course. Dave Noyes received minor cuts and scratches on his scalp and back of his neck.
