TV and Coverage of the Disturbances
A comment on “L.A. Turns on TV Sets as Disturbances Erupt” (May 1). Daniel Cerone quotes KABC General Manager Terry Crofoot on giving up advertising revenue: “Part of our role is to provide news coverage, and we believe providing nonstop coverage is a public service we must provide.”
I would like to give a large thank you to KABC for the additional service of providing closed-captioned coverage for almost all of the tragic events taking place. The hearing-impaired community has no other means of keeping up with current happenings and no other way of receiving timely warnings or instructions.
