Second-Guessing the King Jurors

Share

Strangely, I feel a kinship with Rodney King (Rex Julian Beaber’s “The Social Contract Hangs by a Thread,” Commentary, May 1). This seemingly gentle man wanted to say his piece in court, and he didn’t get to do it. I believe that this jury made an honest decision based upon the evidence as it was presented to them, but they didn’t get the whole story due to the lawyer’s strategy, or the word trial lawyer Beaber used, “tricks.”

I believe that it is the judges who are failing this American society. I believe it is their sacred duty to make absolutely sure that all of the evidence is presented before them, or a jury if there is one, in order for justice not only to be done, but to be seen to be done, a different kind of thing.

For myself, I hope never to have to use the services of a lawyer again, as the perception I have, based upon my own experience of them, is that they are all corrupt, and just maybe are expected to be.
