Second-Guessing the King Jurors
The King verdict confirms my longstanding belief that our jury system simply does not work. The remarks of the anonymous jurors (explaining and justifying their decision) illustrate what I have long suspected: Many people are incapable of logical thought processes and unable to judge a case on its merit and on the evidence, without being influenced by irrelevant, emotional testimony. Therefore, the decision of the jury should be only one of several factors, not the final decisive factor in determining the final verdict.
Heresy? I suppose so, but the King verdict warrants a revolutionary approach and a dramatic challenge to the status quo.
