AKRON, Ohio — Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. said it will close its Madisonville, Ky., plant by the end of the year, eliminating 180 jobs.
Goodyear said it has not decided where production will be moved but said it likely will go to one of its other three specialty tire plants in Freeport, Ill., Gadsden, Ala., and Topeka, Kan.
Goodyear had said a year ago that the Madisonville plant’s status was uncertain.
