Oscar Mayer to Eliminate 675 Jobs: Oscar Mayer Foods Corp. said it would eliminate the jobs and close its Chicago meat processing plant by Dec. 4 to cut costs. The closing is the latest in a series of cutbacks at the Madison, Wis.-based meat company. “We simply have too much production capacity,” said Roman Maier, vice president of operations. The company is the nation’s largest maker of bacon, wieners and lunch meats. It employs about 12,000 people nationwide.
