Pennzoil Ordered to Revise Ads: Pennzoil, which has advertised for years that its oil provides longer engine life by preventing engine wear, must stop making that claim. A U.S. District Court judge has ruled that Houston-based Pennzoil must suspend all ads that say using the motor oil will lengthen the life of a car’s engine. “The Pennzoil advertisements are completely unsubstantiated,” the judge said. Pennzoil ads say its motor oil gives the most protection against viscosity breakdown--the failure of oil’s main ingredient. A Pennzoil spokesman said the company will revise its advertising.
