Saddened by the ‘Pow-Wow’

Share

Thai fried rice. Crystal beads. Gun battles between outlaws and deputy marshals. Top it off with “Indian maiden headbands” from Taiwan and imitation “leather drums” from Korea (“Pow-Wow Power,” May 18).

Is this the message of the Indian way of life? The religious nature of a catlanite pipe is a sacred object to many Native Americans, only to be sold to whomever has the most money. I can only pray that Wakan Tanka (Great Spirit) doesn’t look down and see the tears in my eyes.
