National Technical Systems Inc., a Calabasas company that provides testing and engineering services to the aerospace, defense and communications industries, reported a 13% increase in profits to $143,000 in its fiscal first quarter that ended April 30.
A year earlier, the company earned $127,000. Revenue totaled $11 million in the latest quarter, up 12% from $9.81 million in revenue a year before.
National Technical said it returned to profitability in its first quarter after losses in the prior two quarters because of a restructuring of its contract labor services subsidiary.
The company also said it has leased a research, development and test facility from Lockheed Corp. in Santa Clarita. It said the 500-acre Rye Canyon facility would allow it to offer independent, third-party testing verification to a broad range of industries.
