The Compton Office of Community Legal Services, destroyed in the civil disturbances on April 30, is attempting to regain contact with past and present clients. The Compton staff has moved temporarily to the Norwalk office and can be reached at (310) 638-6194.
Community Legal Services is a nonprofit organization that provides legal counsel to low-income residents. The Compton office serves Carson, Compton, Cudahy, Hollydale, Huntington Park, Lynwood, Maywood, South Gate, Willowbrook and Walnut Park.
Compton office director Julius Craig Wesson said the center lost the records and phone numbers of all its Compton clients, many of whom have open cases. “The only way to get in touch with our clients is to have them call us,” Wesson said.
