AT&T;, Unions Open New Round of Talks: American Telephone & Telegraph Co. and its unions resumed negotiations over a new contract for 127,000 workers despite signs that progress has been slow. The talks, being held under the threat of a strike, resumed after tough words from the head of AT&T;’s biggest union. Communications Workers of America President Morton Bahr said in a telephone conference call to union stewards that he is “terribly disappointed” in the lack of progress in the talks.
