Owners of Credit Repair Service Plead No Contest: The owners of Credit One Services, a Ft. Bragg, Calif., firm that sold a bogus credit repair service to 20,000 people nationwide, pleaded no contest to three criminal violations of state credit services law. Los Angeles Deputy City Atty. Ruth Qwan said John P. Ruggeri, 35, faces five months in the County Jail and 36 months probation as part of a plea bargain accepted Wednesday. His wife, Nancy G. Ruggeri, 33, faces 30 days in jail and 30 days under house arrest, followed by 36 months’ probation. The Ruggeris continue to face federal and state civil charges, stemming from the sale of kits that told people how to gain credit by falsifying their Social Security numbers.
