The Tarzana Chamber of Commerce will sponsor the Miss Tarzana USA Beauty Pageant today at the Warner Center Marriott Hotel, 21850 Oxnard St., Woodland Hills. KCBS radio personality Charlie Tuna will be master of ceremonies. Tickets are $50; black-tie is optional. Part of the proceeds will benefit the KYDS III Program (Keeping Kids Doing Something). The Statesmen’s Club of the Jewish Home for the Aging in Reseda honored philanthropists Mickey and Edna Weiss and filmmaker Hal Roach on Tuesday.

The Weisses received the Marilyn and Monty Hall Humanitarian Award for decades of community support. In addition to the Jewish Home, they are involved with the Jewish Federation Council, Israel Tennis Centers and the United Jewish Fund.

Roach, who turned 100 in January, received the Rose Media Achievement Award for producing classic American film comedies with Laurel and Hardy, and Harold Lloyd, as well as the “Our Gang” series.

The Statesmen’s Club was created to give recognition to donors of more than $25,000 to the Jewish Home for the Aging.

The Rotary Club of Woodland Hills held a picnic party for 200 foster children and parents last month at Griffith Park. Food was provided by the Red Onion and Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream, and gifts and favors were given to all. Children saw a demonstration of equipment by the Los Angeles Fire Department. Thirty volunteers, members and spouses of the Rotary Club served at the event.
