Oil Output Raised: The Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries increased production a bit in May over April as demand grew more strongly than expected in North America, the International Energy Agency said. The West’s oil watchdog said in its monthly oil market report that the 13 OPEC countries extracted 23.5 million barrels of oil a day in May, 200,000 per day more than in April. Last month, OPEC agreed to hold production steady despite an anticipated increase in demand. The move pushed up oil prices.
