World IN BRIEF : CHINA : Dissident Sees Sign of Change in Beijing

Dai Qing, a Chinese dissident who was refused entry to China before the Tian An Men Square anniversary, returned to Beijing and said the government’s decision to allow her to go home was a sign of favorable change. The 50-year-old journalist, who is on a Nieman Fellowship at Harvard University, said Chinese authorities made a mistake by barring her from entering China for a family visit on May 30, “but now the Chinese government has changed its measures. I feel it’s very good. We should all welcome this kind of change.”
