Young Realtors to Hire Realty World Agents

Young Realtors of Westlake Village, one of the largest independent real estate brokerages in the Conejo Valley, will hire most of the 40 agents of Realty World-Westlake Village, which is closing its doors, officials of both firms said.

Joan Young, president of Young Realtors, said Bill Carter, owner of Realty World-Westlake Village, will become a vice president of her company, acting as an agent in the sale of higher-priced houses.

“It was a case of too much overhead and too few sales,” Carter said, explaining the move.

He said he expects the residential real estate market to remain in the doldrums for two to five years. “I’ve been in the business for 20 years and have never seen things as slow as they are now.”

Young Realtors had 38 agents before the expansion, which will add about 25 agents to its staff. The company’s transactions totaled $214 million in 1991.
