Another Argument for Clip-On Ties

Suburban Virginia businessman Jay Aceto is advising executives to remove the nooses from their necks before leaving the office.

Their neckties, that is.

Aceto, a martial-arts expert, has completed a survey of 3,000 reported assaults and said he discovered that when the victims were executives wearing business suits, the attacker nearly always used their ties to spin them around, choke or otherwise threaten them.

“If you’re heading to your car and there is no one to impress, take off your tie and throw it in your briefcase,” Aceto advised. “Then you’re no longer wearing a ‘handle’ for a mugger.”
