Pico Rivera : Mobile Home Owners Seek Rent, Zoning Protections

Share

About 75 mobile home owners have organized a group to push for rent control and zoning protection for residents of Pico Rivera’s eight mobile home parks.

“We have to take the initiative to protect our families and our investments,” said organizer Helen O’Hara, who hosted the organizational meeting in the Westland Estates community room.

Over the past 10 years, rents have increased 9% to 10% a year for some city mobile home residents, O’Hara said.

Other residents said zoning problems were an even greater concern for the families that occupy an estimated 600 mobile home spaces in Pico Rivera. The city’s mobile home parks are located in areas that could become parts of new commercial or residential developments.
