The country of 1.1 billion, going through rapid industrialization, wants to develop an environmental technology sector not only to supply domestic needs but also for its export potential. The seriousness of China’s effort is underscored by its decision to participate in EcoBrasil 92, the environmental trade fair that was a parallel event to the Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro.
