Tyson Buying Arctic Alaska Fisheries: Tyson Foods Inc., the nation’s largest poultry processor, said it is buying Arctic Alaska Fisheries Corp. in a stock and cash deal valued at $212 million. Arctic Alaska operates 31 fishing vessels, mainly in waters off Alaska, Oregon and California. Arctic Alaska, which harvests bottom fish and crab, also operates fish processing plants in Oregon, British Columbia and China, plus two Seattle reprocessing plants. The Seattle company also has fisheries-related joint venture interests in Russia and Indonesia. Springdale, Ark.-based Tyson has been expanding in recent years.
