STILL BLOOMING: When Watergate forced President Richard M. Nixon from office on Aug. 9, 1974, he and his wife, Pat, returned to their San Clemente peninsula home, Casa Pacifica, where Nixon himself says he went into “exile.” They sold it into friendly hands in 1980. . . . Allergan founder and close Nixon friend Gavin Herbert and his wife, Ninetta, moved in and still hold charity benefits on the grounds. . . . Herbert was already familiar with the estate.
