Manchester Wins Four-Lap Main Event

COSTA MESA — Chris Manchester of Hesperia won the four-lap scratch main event of the weekly speedway motorcycle program Friday at the Orange County Fairgrounds in Costa Mesa.

Josh Larsen of Costa Mesa was second, Louis Kossuth of Diamond Bar third and Charlie Venegas of Costa Mesa fourth.

Larsen held a half-bike-length advantage over Manchester for two laps, with Venegas challenging both. On the third lap, Manchester took the lead, and Venegas dropped out when his motorcycle stopped running because of a mechanical problem.

Shawn McConnell of Brea won the eight-lap handicap main event.
