DEALIN’: Before Sub Pop, the Seattle label that launched the likes of Nirvana and L7, there was Twin/Tone, the Minneapolis label that launched the likes of the Replacements and Soul Asylum. The bankruptcy of distributor Rough Trade has made Twin/Tone releases hard to find, but a new deal with Hollywood-based Restless Records should correct that.

Restless will manufacture and distribute new and old Twin/Tone releases, starting with 40 back catalogue items at the end of this month, including the Replacements’ “Let It Be,” the band’s last before moving to big-time Sire Records. Restless has also struck an agreement in which Interscope Records will have the first option to sign acts that outgrow Restless.
