Happiness Is Just a Thing Called Bruce

Enough already! I have been reading Sunday Calendar faithfully for more than 15 years, and the only time I don’t look forward to it is when Springsteen or U2 have a new release.

I held my tongue last time you gave “Bruuuuuce” a cover story (about his lack of releases!), but perhaps I was too in shock to write. But now, yet another cover story, about “how Bruce got happy.” I’ll tell you how he got happy--he became a millionaire about 15 years ago. Story over!

Wouldn’t it serve the public better if you actually devoted a few of your covers to new music? Sure, you do some stories now on the Pixies and Jesus and Mary Chain (today firmly established by alternative standards), but where were you five and 10 years ago when they were starting out?

Doing Springsteen stories and listening to “Rosalita” again, that’s where.
