Patrica Hughes Torres of Glendale was elected president of Zonta Club of Glendale. Torres, a real estate attorney in Montrose, served last year as vice president of the group. Zonta International is an organization of business executives and professionals who work to improve the status of women worldwide through service and fund-raising projects.

George Heussenstamm of La Crescenta, director of the Eagle Rock Scrabble Club, was named Director of the Year for 1991 by the National Scrabble Assn. Heussenstamm has been club director for four years and drew national attention within the organization for his work running the Eagle Rock Scrabble Tournament.
