Replacement Workers

Share

William Bywater’s column (“The Dignity of Honest Work on the Line,” Column Left, June 14) is yet another attempt of declining union leadership to attain by legislation what they cannot attain by collective bargaining.

Such a law not only flies in the face of our free market system, it provides special protection for one group of workers (union) versus another (the replacements).

Workers have a right to bargain collectively and strike if they feel the necessity. Employers have the right to hire who they will. Such a “no permanent replacement” law should be left to the collective bargaining process and not imposed by yet more government interference.
