* Carter Hawley Hale Stores Inc. announced that Lynn Sperling has joined the company as senior vice president/general merchandise manager, sportswear and special sizes.

Sperling had been with Chorus Line, where she started their junior sportswear division.

Richard D. Lindheim, executive vice president, program strategy, MCA Television Group, has requested release from his contract, to which MCA has agreed, effective July 15.

Lindheim joined Universal Television in February, 1979 to create and develop new projects. He was named vice president, current programming in March, 1981; was later given additional responsibilities and promoted to senior vice president, series programming; and in 1987 was appointed executive vice president, creative affairs. In June 1991, he advanced to his current position.
