Accord in RJR Nabisco Lawsuit: A $72.5-million settlement has been approved in one of three major lawsuits filed against RJR Nabisco Inc. by investors who say a buyout of the company cheated them out of billions of dollars. The settlement calls for payments, less attorneys’ fees, of 7.5 cents to $8 for each share of RJR Nabisco stock or each employee stock option sold between March 30 and Oct. 20, 1988. The settlement clears the way for Michael Mukasey, a federal judge in New York who approved the settlement Friday, to rule on a lawsuit filed in 1989 by nine former employees of R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Co., a subsidiary of RJR Nabisco. The lawsuit has been on hold since February, when the settlement was proposed, said David Clark, an attorney in Greensboro who represents the former employees.
