Keith Companies Lands Philippines Job: Keith Companies, a Costa Mesa civil engineering and planning consultant, said it has clinched a two-year, $1-million contract with the U.S. Agency for International Development to survey the damage caused by the volcanic eruption of Mount Pinatubo in the Philippines.

The company will survey 11 sites about 100 miles northwest of Manila. The area was devastated by the June, 1991, volcanic eruption, which prompted a U.S. government decision to abandon major naval and air bases in that country.

The result of the on-site survey, which will cover 4,000 square miles, will be sent to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in November, said Lawrence L. Truman, vice president of surveying and mapping. The company will do another survey on the 11 sites in 1993 to track the rebuilding of the area, he said.
