HOME AGAIN: When Kevin J. Murphy, 38, took the helm as Newport Beach city manager a few weeks ago, most knew him as the outgoing city manager from Alhambra and one of the youngest in the state. Actually, Murphy says, his new job is like returning to his roots. He grew up in Anaheim, graduated from Savanna High School and worked summers at Disneyland. . . . Says Murphy: “It’s great. The weather’s cool compared to the San Gabriel Valley. It’s a nice change from the hot and smoggy. It’s good to be home.”
