OptimumCare Contract: OptimumCare Corp. said Wednesday that it has negotiated a contract to run a psychiatric center at a Bakersfield hospital.

The contract, OptimumCare’s fourth, is with Good Samaritan Hospital and was signed June 14, said Edward A. Johnson, president of the 5-year-old company.

OptimumCare, based in Laguna Niguel, now operates three inpatient and outpatient psychiatric programs for hospitals in Baldwin Park and Huntington Beach, Johnson said.

The company also announced Wednesday that it has been negotiating to run similar programs at several other hospitals in Southern California.

“We are extremely close to being signed,” Johnson said. He would not identify the hospitals or say when agreements might be finalized.

OptimumCare, with 1991 revenue of $2.22 million, said it expects the Good Samaritan contract to bring in another $750,000 a year.
