Sears to Remove Some New Auto Repair Policy Signs: Sears, Roebuck & Co. said it is removing signs regarding its new auto repair policy at 11 Sears auto shops where service advisers are still paid on a commission basis. The company was unable to immediately eliminate commissions at those stores because the employees are represented by unions, and any compensation change must be negotiated. Sears pledged to do away with commissions after the California Department of Consumer Affairs said an undercover investigation showed a pattern of overselling. Separately, Sears said it retained former Illinois Atty. Gen. Neil F. Hartigan to advise it on matters relating to the auto centers.
