VALLEYWIDE : Hazardous Waste Roundup Scheduled
San Fernando Valley residents can get rid of old paint, pesticides and other household chemicals Saturday at a one-day Household Hazardous Waste roundup in Van Nuys.
The roundup will give residents the opportunity to safely discard household wastes including motor oil and cleaning agents that can become health, environmental and fire hazards if improperly disposed of, said Jackie Davis, a spokeswoman for the Los Angeles Bureau of Sanitation. Disposal services are offered free of charge, she said.
The event will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Valley College, 5800 Fulton Ave., in parking lot B, Davis said. More information can be obtained from the Board of Public Works information office, (213) 237-1634.
