SHERMAN OAKS : D.A. to Relocate Child Support Office
The district attorney’s office received county approval Tuesday to expand the San Fernando Valley branch of its child support collections bureau and move it from Reseda to Sherman Oaks.
A spokeswoman for the Bureau of Family Support said the change would allow more aggressive collections from so-called “deadbeat dads” through a new computer system, and would also provide more room for files.
“I believe we will be able to locate people we can’t locate now, before they’ve changed jobs or moved to a new location,” said Barbara Catlow, assistant bureau director.
The office serves all of the Valley as well as Burbank, Glendale and parts of West Los Angeles.
The federal government will pay two-thirds of the rental cost for the new office, to be located at 15531 Ventura Blvd. The remainder of the cost was included in the district attorney’s 1992-93 budget.
