E. Bright Wilson, 83, a chemist and prime researcher into the microwave emissions of molecules. Wilson was a former chairman of the chemistry department at Harvard and co-author of several well-known texts, among them “Introduction to Quantum Mechanics,” written with Linus Pauling. During World War II he performed research on underwater explosives and in 1967 was part of a group of prominent scientists who urged the United States to stop bombing North Vietnam and end the war there. Among his awards was the National Medal of Science presented by President Gerald R. Ford in 1976. In Cambridge, Mass., on Sunday of pneumonia.
