The U.S. Olympic Committee’s submission of 400-meter runner Butch Reynolds’ name as a potential competitor in the 1992 Summer Olympics will be rejected, said the chairman of Barcelona’s organizing committee, Josep Miguel Abad.

But he said that Reynolds might be allowed to participate in the Games as a USOC official. Reynolds earned a berth in the Olympics as a member of the U.S. relay team, but he is under suspension internationally until Aug. 12, three days after the Games end, because he failed a drug test in 1990.
