Museum Recalls J.F.K. as President, Neighbor
A new museum dedicated to John F. Kennedy not only honors a former President, but also remembers him as a neighbor, organizers say.
“The time President Kennedy spent in Hyannis Port during his youth and presidency were among the happiest days of his life,” the slain President’s brother, Sen. Edward M. Kennedy (D-Mass.), said at a reception at the museum. “This exhibit will enable visitors to understand why he valued his ties to the cape so deeply.”
The museum, which opened Monday, has an exhibit of about 50 photographs, taken between 1934 and 1963, of Kennedy on Cape Cod with family members and government officials.
