A man who fits the description of the “Marty Robbins Bandit” robbed a bank Thursday, the sixth such robbery here since May, police said.

The man, who was given his moniker because of his resemblance to the late country singer, is suspected of robbing several banks in the area in the past few months, authorities said.

In Thursday’s incident, a man entered Union Bank at 17122 Beach Blvd. shortly before 1 p.m. and handed a teller a note saying he was a robber, said Lt. Ed McErlain. The teller handed the man an undisclosed amount of money, and he left the bank on foot, police said.

No weapon was seen and no one was injured during the robbery, police said.

The man is described as 6 feet, 3 inches tall and between 36 and 38 years old, McErlain said. He has straight blond hair that is parted in the middle, police said. He wore tan slacks, a tweed jacket and a button-down shirt, McErlain said.
