Auto Exports to U.S. Drop: Auto exports to the United States and the European Community declined in the first half of this year while overall auto exports increased for the first time in six years, the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Assn. said. The decline in exports to America and Europe was attributed to weak global economic conditions and the impact of “Buy American” campaigns. Overall vehicle exports of 2.897 million were up 1.7% from the year-ago period. Exports to the United States dropped 11% to 845,406, while those to EC countries fell 2.9% to 747,661.
