Remembering a Caring Man

Share

I read your obituary of my doctor, Dr. Jerome K. Schaffer, chief of staff at Encino Hospital.

As a patient of his, who saw him treat three generations of my family, I know how greatly he enhanced the quality of life for the growing Valley. He engendered great loyalty in his patients, looking at each of them as individuals, as people, not just as specific body parts with diseases. He tried to impart this idea to a new generation of doctors.

He fought valiantly for the last several years against kidney and heart disease, but maintained an office schedule of four mornings a week until the very end.
