It may indeed be comforting to know that our efforts to fight air pollution have paid off to a degree, as your editorial points out. But before we get too comfortable, let’s admit that nonsustainable technologies like petroleum-burning internal combustion engines have got to go. No amount of regulation or improvement can fix such a fundamentally flawed system of people-moving.
