LITTLE GOLD: Twelve-year-old Ashley Bethel of Lake Forest cleaned up at the Olympics last weekend: a gold in the pentathlon, gold in the high jump, and silver in the 80-meter hurdles. It was the national Junior Olympics, in Walnut, Calif. . . . It helped make up for last year, when she made the Junior Olympics in North Carolina but had to drop out from heat exhaustion. Says proud mom Abby Bethel: “We knew she was talented; this is great!”
