Data General to Sell Next Computers: The Westboro, Mass.-based computer maker said it will sell workstations made by Next Computer Inc. in an effort to stimulate its revenues. The Next machines will be sold with Data General’s line of Aviion server computers, which act as information hubs for other computers. Data General already sells workstations, which are powerful desktop machines, but spokesman James Dunlap said the Next machines would complement rather than supplant the existing products. The deal will allow Data General to better target certain markets, such as financial services, Dunlap said. The two companies also said they would cooperate in product development.
