Composer and conductor Christopher Fazzi will become director and conductor of the Glendale Youth Orchestra for its fourth season, beginning this fall.

Fazzi, a resident of Beverly Hills, was musical director and principal conductor of the Glendale Chamber Orchestra from 1982 to 1989. He has since concentrated on composing and arranging projects, including arrangements for Doc Severinsen’s Trumpet Spectacular. His composition, “Celebration Overture,” was performed by musicians from the Oakwood School in Toronto, Canada, at the Glendale Youth Orchestra’s North American Friendship Concert in May.

Fazzi will replace Richard Rintoul, who has left for Pomona College, where he will conduct the symphony orchestra and string arts ensemble.
