Multilingual Ballots

I disagree with your editorial stating that bilingual ballots will encourage participation in the political process (July 28).

It sends the message that learning English is not necessary; it discourages assimilation in the American culture and increases ethnic polarization.

This is not the way the “melting pot” is supposed to work.
