Judge Reaffirms Ruling Against Apple: A federal judge reaffirmed a ruling dismissing most of Apple Computer’s $5.5-billion copyright lawsuit against Microsoft Corp. and Hewlett-Packard Co. over widely used computer screen display symbols. U.S. District Judge Vaughn Walker’s 75-page ruling differed in a few details but not in the basic conclusion of his April 14 decision that Apple had no copyright protection for nearly all of the Macintosh personal computer features that were the basis of the suit.
