THE GENDER AGENDA

Of course! A testosterone tax on all men! But Patt Morrison only hints at the possibilities (“The Gender Tax,” Guest Bites Town, June 28).

Because young people are so costly to society with their crime, graffiti and so on, perhaps they should be assessed a special youth tax. And since black people also constitute a high-crime group, they too should have to ante up a little extra. And don’t forget old people. While enjoying their cushy senior discounts, the over-65 crowd is costing the rest of us plenty in heavily subsidized medical services and public transportation, among other expenses.

The possibilities are limitless. The best part is, once we accept the idea that a person can be taxed as punishment for sharing the hormonal or skin-tone characteristics of undesirables, we may finally have a shot at getting a handle on the national debt.
