3-D Systems Inc. reported a $941,293 second-quarter loss on a 5% decline in sales.

The company is the Canadian parent of 3D Systems Inc. in Valencia, which makes equipment that rapidly produces plastic-like models that clients use for developing prototypes.

3-D Systems blamed the loss in the quarter that ended June 26 on “the lingering effects of worldwide recessionary pressures which continue to influence customers’ capital expenditures.”

The company’s second-quarter sales fell to $5.62 million from $5.92 million a year earlier. For the first half of 1992, 3-D Systems lost $733,083 compared with a loss of $3.32 million a year ago, and its six-month sales climbed 23%, to $13 million from $10.6 million.
