Cels for Sale: One of only two cels known to exist of Chernobog, the black god from the “Night on Bald Mountain” sequence in Disney’s 1940 film “Fantasia,” will be put on the block Sunday night at the Burbank Hilton by animation art dealer Howard Lowery. The pre-sale estimate price is $40,000 to $60,000. Other notable items in the sale: a cel-and-background setup of Briar Rose dipping her foot in a forest stream from Disney’s 1959 “Sleeping Beauty” (estimated price, $100,000 to $150,000) and the manuscript of Bob Thomas’ “The Art of Animation” (1957) with Walt Disney’s annotations ($10,000 to $15,000).
