Management That Belabored a Point

If you think politics makes strange bedfellows, take a look at a new Las Vegas alliance.

Striking workers at the Frontier hotel-casino on the glitzy Strip are receiving free meals from a food truck hired by the management of nearby Circus Circus.

It seems that Circus Circus Enterprises Chairman William G. Bennett is angry at the rival Frontier because it did not settle the strike long ago. Health benefits are a key issue in the walkout, which began in September, 1991.

Frontier General Manager Tom Elardi seemed more irritated with the workers than Bennett. The strike would have been over long ago, he said by phone, if the workers spent as much time bargaining as they did dreaming up this “publicity stunt.”
